CFTC Chair Launches CEO Council to Advance Crypto Regulation Framework
Acting CFTC Chair Caroline Pham unveiled plans for a CEO Innovation Council to refine cryptocurrency oversight. The initiative, accepting nominations until December 8, comes as Congress prepares to debate new market structure legislation.
The regulator's innovation agenda includes exploring perpetual contracts, tokenized collateral, and round-the-clock trading. A multi-year crypto Sprint program aims to implement recommendations from the Trump-era Digital Asset Markets Working Group by 2026.
Key priorities involve enabling spot crypto trading on regulated platforms and adapting CFTC rules for blockchain integration. "This council will ensure we're prepared for the evolving regulatory landscape," Pham stated during her announcement.
